Paddle, Connect, Thrive: Networking with a Wellness Twist

What happens when you combine movement, meaningful conversation, and great people? You get the Paddle Networking Event — an inspired concept created by Stefan Buss, founder of Sales and Marketing Engineers, who saw the power of bringing professionals together between paddle games to connect naturally, authentically, and energetically.

Held regularly at The Paddle Hub in Haywards Heath, these events flip traditional networking on its head. Instead of stiff handshakes and forced small talk, conversations flow effortlessly after a game, when energy is high, barriers are low, and people are simply being themselves.

The recent Christmas & Festive Paddle Networking Event was a perfect example of this magic in action.

There we’re over 30 attendees, the evening was buzzing with festive spirit, friendly competition, and genuine connection. Throughout the event, new relationships were formed, collaborations sparked, and plenty of laughter shared — proving that networking doesn’t have to feel like work.

From a wellness and well-being perspective, the benefits are powerful both professionally and personally. Physically, paddle boosts energy, focus, and mood. Mentally, it reduces stress and creates a relaxed state that encourages open conversation. Professionally, it builds trust faster, strengthens communication, and allows people to connect as humans first — not just job titles.

During the event, I had the pleasure of interviewing a couple entrepreneurs and regular members of the paddle networking community, capturing some truly inspirational insights around resilience, leadership, business growth, and the importance of staying active while building professional relationships. These conversations were a reminder that some of the best ideas are shared not in boardrooms, but on and around the court.

Two key takeaways from attending a Paddle Networking Event:

  1. Movement accelerates connection — shared physical activity breaks down walls and builds rapport fast.
  2. Well-being fuels better business — when you feel good, you communicate better, think clearer, and collaborate more effectively.

If you’re looking for networking that energises you rather than drains you, paddle networking might just be the future.
