How can a former athlete encourage wellbeing at a school?
If you are looking for an inspirational or motivational athlete to give a speech at a school look no further. Getting a school of between 200 to 600 pupils to try a certain athletics move or a gymnastics pose is pretty simple for some speaker athletes.
Pelham Primary School in Wimbledon, Merton had the privilege of experiencing a former Olympic and Commonwealth Games athlete inspire them for a morning. On behalf of Sports for schools Victoria Ohuruogu (400m athlete) and Courtney Orange (Gymnast) managed to get the hearts pumping and the blood flowing for both pupils and teachers.
Just over one hour of physical exercises was followed by an incredible motivational speech by Victoria and Courtney. Victoria’s athlete motivation speech is all about perseverance and patience. Courtney’s wellbeing motivational keynotespeech is all based on the words “I can do it” where he encourages wellbeing, confidence building, positive mindset and happiness.
The vision of the school of Pehlam interestingly enough were pretty similar to the inspirational messages given out in the athlete inspirational speeches. The wellbeing, resilience and peak performance key takeaway messages certainly encourages children of different ages to reach and strive for higher heights.
Both former Commonwealth Games athletes, usually give their motivational speeches to the pupils and staff that attend the school assemblies. Their inspirational peak performance and motivating speeches last between 20 minutes to 30 minutes. The athlete speeches usually includes a question and answer session where the students can ask the athletes more about their journey.
