What are ways that you can build resilience as a parent?
Being a parent can be challenging, anywhere in the world. What can you learn in order to become more resilient as a parent during normal or challenging times?
This is a recent talk that was delivered to parents with children severe disabilities:
Here are 3 ways to build resilience that Courtney Orange, a resilience speaker talks about when he addresses parents who have children with different abilities and disabilities.
- Tension Control
Stress anxiety builds up as a parent, one way that you can relieve that tension is through some simple stretch techniques, starting from the upper body and working your way down to the lower body.
Here are some simple stretch techniques Courtney teaches during is keynote talks – https://content.courtneyorange.com/wellbeing-video-series.
Whilst doing these stretches it is highly important to deeply inhale and exhale slowly and consistently.
- Movement makes smiles
You’d be surprised how simple movements makes you smile. Even try putting on one of your favourite songs for 3mins and do any type of movement to it in the mirror. A swarm of endorphins (The Happy Hormones) will prevail upon you!! Why not get your children to join in with you!
- Gratification & Nature
As we are all part of nature, it is critical for parents to take their children out into nature. Watch the birds flying, listen to them sing, touching leaves of trees or bushes or even having a fish tank at home and watching the fish swim around can contribute massively to a positive mental health and wellbeing.
