How Movement & Mindset Reset a Whole Classroom
In Year 4 classrooms, students frequently exhibited restlessness and frustration, leading to outbursts and loss of focus. Traditional methods weren’t helping. That changed with the arrival of a motivational speaker who introduced the powerful duo: movement and mindset.
A visit to Wadhurst COFE Primary School in the Borough of East Sussex.

The session attended by 300 pupils and staff began with energising stretches and a playful balance challenge. The renowned athlete speaker, Courtney Orange an ex-gymnast, taught the children how physical activity could refresh their brains.
Every 30-45 minutes, students began taking two-minute “brain breaks,” incorporating jumping jacks, stretches, and dance moves. The transformation was nearly immediate.

Shifting the MOVEMENT Mind
Alongside movement, the talk focused on mindset shifts. Pupils learned to flip negative thoughts: “This is too hard” became “This is challenging, but I can learn.” Repetition of positive affirmations and daily reflection journals strengthened their belief in their abilities.

Teachers integrated these practices into daily routines. The result? Less disruptive behaviour, higher engagement, and more smiles. Students were not only learning but enjoying learning.

MASSIVE classroom Improvements
This classroom shift from tantrums to triumphs underscored a powerful truth: physical movement and positive mentalhabits can profoundly affect mood, attention, and learning outcomes.
Schools that embrace these tools give children a greater chance to thrive both emotionally and academically.
